Japan Interested in Indonesia performed Arts
TEMPO Interactive, Surakarta: Japan Foundation is interested in bringing art groups from Indonesia to play in Japan. According to the Director General of the Japan Foundation, Jakarta, Atsushi Kanai, many cultures of Indonesia, which currently is very liked by the people of Japan.
"Many Japanese people are interested in learning about Indonesian culture, especially the gamelan and dance," said Atsushi Kanai on the sidelines of the 5th Indonesian activities Performance Art Mart 2009 in Surakarta, Thursday (06/04).
In fact, he says, almost in every college of the arts in Japan have art of gamelan. "At least be a separate course," said Atsushi.
In addition, he said, now there are about ten groups of gamelan in Japanese art. The majority of the gamelan arts groups in the City of Tokyo. "They're definitely interested if the perpetrators of the original Indonesian gamelan brought there," he said.
According to him, the art of gamelan and dance is preferred because it is universal. "There is no language barrier," he said. It differs from other art that many uses of dialogue, like a puppet, ketoprak ludruk or tetaer.
Japan Foundation is also ready to become a facilitator of cultural exchange between Indonesia and Japan, especially in terms of funding. "Last year we have a lot of facilitation," he said. That is because last year coincided with the anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan 50th.
Indonesian Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Indonesian arts hoping to become one of the branches of the creative industries are worth selling in international markets. "We have many experts and practitioners in the field of cultural arts," he said.
